The Perfect Red Lip

The perfect red lipstick is an iconic beauty staple for your make up kit. Its like the little Black dress or that sexy heel it should always be in your closet. It never outdates it uplifts you and can add a little bit of confidence.

Lipstick was first invented 5000 years ago by the ancient sumerian men and women who would crush gemstones and white lead. Cleopatra crushed bugs to stain her lips.Thankfully we dont need to go to those extremes anymore but now we have the delema of  What colour ? How do i make it last ? How to apply ? Is it too bold ?

Prepare those Lips.

1.Treat your lips with TLC like you do the rest of your face ,moisturise and protect them use a balm with at least an SPF 15.

2.Its then time to prime either a lip primer or just as good is rub your foundation over your lips.

3.Next its time to apply that perfect lip liner and fill the lip in also this will add an extra layer and as your lipstick rubs of you are not left with a line round your mouth.

4.Apply your lipstick and give it a blot with a tissue then reapply another layer.I like to use a lip brush to get that perfect look but if you prefer apply directly.

How to choose that perfect shade for you.

Fair Complexions – Usually have a pink based undertone so use a blue based or pink based red.

Light Complexions – Usually have a yellow based undertone opt for a slight orange red this will brighten your complexion.

Medium Complexions – With medium skin you usually gain a suntan easily so summer months an Orange based red will compliment and in winter when you are a little paler go for a blue based red.

Olive Complexions – Usually have a yellow green undertone , this complexion looks great in brick red or rust coloured as the earthy tones warm up the complexion.

Caramel Complexions – Usually have a yellow based undertone a True cherry red will pick up the warmth of your skin.

Golden Dark Complexions – Usually have a yellow undertone so go for a True red.

Dark Complexions-For that bold look go for an orange based red.

The best thing to do is try on as Eye and hair colour can also play a big part. Visit any cosmetic store and a good consultant will get you in their chair and get the lipstick on you.
